Mini symposium Fear and focus in performance

NCPA and Office Music and Health ArtEZ School of Music , partner in a mini symposium, addressing the subject of performance anxiety. What is this anxiety? How does it manifest itself in the context of performance? Is it a taboo? And how can performing artists in dance and music work with this reality?

Performing artists in music, dance and other arts students, educators and (para) medicals are warmly invited to join.

Panel discussion

Erno Hermans is senior researcher at the Radboud University Donders Institute Nijmegen: a world-class research centre devoted to the understanding of the mechanistic underpinnings of human cognition and behaviour in health and disease. He investigates how the brain enables us to survive in threatening situations and will enlighten us with the newest insights in his field.

Esther van Fenema studied violin at the conservatoire in Brussels. As a psychiatrist at Leiden Academic Medical Centre (LUMC) she supports musicians to re-invent the joy of performing for an audience. For this mini symposium she will focus her presentation towards coping strategies.

Performance psychologist Brendon Koolen works with athletes, dance-professionals and musicians, His presentation gives insight in the reason why some professionals fail, while others succeed.

Attendance
The entrance fee is 20 euros. Students and employees of ArtEZ School of Music and supporters of NCPA have free access. Registration is required by sending an email to welcome@ncpa.nl. You will receive a confirmation with information on payment.
