On April 24th 2013, ArtEZ School of Dance organised the health symposium ‘Listen, Share, Move’. During the conference, four institutes publicly expressed their intention to collaborate in the future. ArtEZ Institute of the Arts, HAN University for Applied Sciences Arnhem and Nijmegen, FysioGym Twente and Sports Medical Center Papendal now combine their expertise and passion for excellence to form a strategic alliance in the new foundation: National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).

As of January 1 2014, NCPA will focus on research, knowledge sharing, talent scouting and development and continual professional development in the performing arts, physiotherapy, sports and exercise.

Research: NCPA initiates and participates in artistic, scientific and multidisciplinary research at national and international level.

Knowledge sharing: NCPA focuses on bringing together new and existing knowledge (including the domains human motor control, health and wellbeing promotion, injury prevention and applied research), in order to increase local and (inter) national expertise, medical referral (NCPA does not offer medical care) and knowledge dissemination through publications, seminars and symposiums.

Talent scouting and development: NCPA focuses on applied research, sharing and implementation of knowledge for the purpose of curriculum development, innovation and scouting of talented individuals across the performance spectrum.

Continual Professional Development: NCPA develops and organises education activities and additional training for professionals in education and medicine.

In the coming year, NCPA will support activities of its partners with (inter) national exposure. In addition, the centre will initiate a number of activities, particularly in the area of research, training and knowledge sharing. The inaugural event is the mini symposium; “Ready to Move?” on February 17th 2014 from 18.00 (walk in) till approximately 21.00. We hope to see you there!
