ArtEZ University of the Arts
ArtEZ Institute of the Arts trains students for professions in which art, knowledge and creativity play a central role. ArtEZ offers a related selection of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in visual art, architecture, fashion, design, music, theatre, creative writing, dance and art education. At the same time, ArtEZ is a specialised knowledge institute where lecturers combine theory and practice. ArtEZ works together with a large number of partners at home and abroad, such as other educational institutes, companies, governing bodies and non-profit organisations.
At ArtEZ, education is focused on students’ artistic, intellectual and personal growth. They are trained in a professional role that closely matches their talent, personality and ambition and they receive support from lecturers who have more than earned their spurs in professional practice. Because of this individual approach, students are well prepared for their future careers as arts and culture professionals.
In the area of Dance, ArtEZ offers the Bachelor of Dance and Bachelor of Dance in Education, as well as a Master of Theatre Practices. The study programmes are provided by the ArtEZ School of Dance. The school is known for its unconventional programme. The special method of dance teaching reduces injuries considerably and contributes to the development of excellent dancers, dance makers and dance teachers with a great deal of knowledge of self-regulation and career extension.
ArtEZ Conservatory is one of the largest schools of music in the Netherlands. ArtEZ has responded to developments in the field in a way that few other schools of music have. This is reflected in the offer of new study programmes such as MediaMusic, Music Therapy, Music Theatre and the Academy of Pop Music. But also in programmes such as Classical Music, Jazz & Pop and Music in Education, which anticipate changes by implementing radical innovations in their curricula. This has resulted in a broad choice of programmes for students, innovative guest lecturers, multidisciplinary projects and a wide range of genres and styles.
